What people usually ask

Do I need to book in advance or can I just walk in? +

Walk-ins are welcome for an initial assessment, though booking ahead by phone or message means we can give your piece proper attention straight away rather than asking you to wait.

What types of watches does Balanco work on? +

We work across mechanical and automatic movements — from everyday pieces brought in for a tune-up to older family watches needing a full rebuild. If you are unsure whether the piece is suitable, get in touch and we will tell you honestly.

How are turnaround times calculated? +

Times are set per service: two days for a cleaning and lubrication tune-up, one to two weeks for a water-resistance reseal, and eight to twelve weeks for a heirloom rebuild. These are working estimates communicated at drop-off, and we contact you if anything changes.

What does the written documentation include for a rebuild? +

You receive archival photographs taken at key stages of disassembly and reassembly, written notes on the condition found and work performed, and a presentation folder to store everything together. The intent is that both the current and future owner of the watch have a clear record of its history.

What if additional issues are found once the watch is open? +

We contact you before proceeding with any work beyond what was agreed. You are given a clear description of what was found and what it would involve to address it. The decision is always yours.

Are the service prices fixed or subject to change? +

The prices listed are starting points for each service type. Final cost is confirmed after the watch has been assessed, before work begins. For tune-ups and reseals the price is usually as quoted; for rebuilds it may vary depending on the condition of the movement.
